The House of Genesis - a Christian Home for the Homeless

We provide accommodation on a short term basis (up to 2 years) for 10 adult men in 2 houses. We aim to provide a family type home, where men can receive care and support to help them back into the community and to achieve independence.

How we began

Nearly 16 years ago, two Christians - a former probation officer and an ex-prisoner - decided to do something to try and help men struggling to find safe accommodation upon release from prison. We originally provided a home exclusively for ex-offenders, but quickly broadened our welcome to include other homeless men in need of support.

What we do

The House of Genesis is located in Thorpe St. Andrew, just east of Norwich. We can help with practical things like form filling, claiming benefits, self-care, budgeting and also by helping to explore how to successfully live and work in the community. We can also offer help and support with personal issues. Supervision is provided by a team of paid part time staff and several volunteer helpers.  There are staff at the the house mornings and evenings and "on call" at other times
